The Perseverance rover found strange “threads” on the Red Planet

This is probably debris left over from missions to the Red Planet.

Perseverance Mars rover discovered mysterious “threads” protruding from the surrounding landscape on Mars. NASA officials said that it is most likely debris left over from past missions, but it is not yet possible to say exactly what these objects are, reports Gizmodo.

This is not the first strange object that NASA rovers have discovered on Mars, something that does not fit into the local landscape. In early June, Curiosity photographed what looked like a doorway. In June, Perseverance saw a shiny object that turned out to be a fragment of its thermal blanket.

Mars could have been inhabited billions of years ago, but it is highly unlikely that life has survived on the Red Planet even today. However, this does not prevent speculation about the detection of signs of the existence of an advanced civilization on Mars. Natural structures caught in two-dimensional images of the Red Planet can make spoons, squirrels and insects appear to be present.

Scientists are disinfecting vehicles sent to Mars to avoid the risk of spreading terrestrial bacteria. But such actions do not prevent the formation of debris falling on the surface of the Red Planet. Mars rovers that study it cannot “clean up after themselves”.

Recall that NASA endowed the Perseverance rover with the ability to independently select targets for collecting samples, which should accelerate the development of science on Mars. Without direct guidance from Earth, the rover “shot” two targets with its SuperCam instrument.
