Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vadym Gutzeit announced the number of dead Ukrainian athletes in the war against Russia.
“The Russians killed 100 Ukrainian athletes and coaches. They died on the battlefield and from enemy fire. Men and women. Adults and children. They are all Heroes, the best of the best of our people. Four wounded. Another 22 are in captivity. We are making every effort. to bring them home alive.
Today more than 3 thousand athletes defend Ukraine and all of Europe with weapons. At the cost of their lives and health, they are fighting for the peaceful future of the entire continent. There are more than 1,100 athletes and coaches on the volunteer front,” Gutzeit wrote on his Facebook page.
