The International Ice Hockey Federation rejected the appeal to remove the national teams of Russia and Belarus

The disciplinary commission found no violations in the sanctions against the aggressors.

Disciplinary Commission of the International Ice Hockey Federation< /strong> (IIHF) considered and rejected the appeal to remove from the competition the national teams of Russia and Belarus.

As reported by Inside the Games, the aggressor country and its partner wanted to get the indefinite suspension of the national teams to be lifted.

< p>The IIHF came to the conclusion that the decision to remove was dictated by security policy, and was not solely a sanction against the background of the military invasion of Ukraine.

The commission confirmed the correctness of the decision to withdraw the 2023 men's World Championship and the Junior WC from Russia -2023, as well as not to appoint officials from the Russian Federation to official competitions and not to invite them to IIHF committee meetings.

We would like to remind you that the 2023 World Ice Hockey Championship was to be held in St. Petersburg. The tournament was moved to Tampere, Finland, and Riga, Latvia.
