The process was launched due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The Executive Committee of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) has launched a procedure to eliminate the Union of Biathletes of Russia (SBU) and the Belarusian Biathlon Federation (BSE) due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, reports Tribuna.com .
The IBU noted that the federations of the occupying countries have seven more days to engage in humanitarian activities in the spirit of the organization and help the victims of the war in Ukraine. If this does not happen, the exclusion decision will be approved.
Earlier, the IBU suspended biathletes from Belarus and Russia from all competitions under the auspices of the organization.
The IBU has also begun working with other European federations to provide assistance to the Ukrainian biathlon community. We are talking about training camps for Ukrainian athletes and teams of all categories, as well as the purchase of sports equipment for 250 thousand euros.
