On Sunday, October 16, Donetsk “Shakhtar” and Kyiv “Dynamo” held the central match of the seventh round of the Ukrainian Premier League.
The match could have been held in London, but this idea could not be implemented. It was decided to play the game in Lviv at the empty “Arena Lviv” stadium.
For the clubs, this will be the first official meeting since the start of the full-scale military invasion of Russia. In total, since the beginning of Ukraine's independence, the derby has already counted 100 matches. The matches ended in a draw 26 times, Shakhtar has 39 victories, and Dynamo has 35.
In the UPL standings, Shakhtar is in second place with 13 points. “Dynamo” has only nine points and the eighth position so far. In the last round, Kyiv defeated “Rukh” with a score of 3:0, and “miners” dealt with “Metalist” – 6:1.
Mircea Lucescu's team has enough personnel problems, the main of which are goalkeepers Bushchan and Boyko, as well as midfielder Shaparenko. “Miners” have only Kornienko left in the infirmary.
