In an interview with The Daily Mail , Shakhtar Donetsk director general Sergei Palkin recalled the first day of the war with Russia.

“I remember waking up to the sounds of bombings and explosions, it was surreal. I couldn't believe what I heard and saw. In the morning I was home with my family, and in the evening I went to the offices of clubs in Kiev. I tried to organize the way as possible to get all international players to safety faster, and to send young people from the youth academy away from danger.

I remember going there and seeing people bustling in blind panic trying to escape, it was awful. I can't describe this feeling and the thoughts that went through my head. I hoped that my whole family would be fine, “Palkin said.

We will remind, on February 24 the president of the Russian Federation Putin made the urgent statement on carrying out special military operation in the territory of Ukraine, having begun large-scale invasion of the Ukrainian cities.
