The organization is considering two options for punishing the occupiers.
The Russian Football Union (RFU) may be deprived of membership in the International Football Federation (FIFA), Match TV reported.
According to the source, two options are being considered – the complete exclusion of Russia or the suspension of membership for a certain period.
UEFA and South African CONMEBOL may be in favor of a complete exception. At the same time, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, as well as representatives of Asia and Africa, are likely to support the removal of Russia for a certain period.
The FIFA Congress will hold a meeting on March 31 in Doha. It will decide on Russia. At the same time, the option of maintaining the current status of the Russian Federation against the background of the invasion of Ukraine is not considered.
The difference between excluding Russia and suspending its membership is the more complex process of restoring status. In any case, Russian football will be banned from transfers and participation in international matches.
We will remind, earlier UEFA and FIFA removed all Russian teams from the international tournaments. The Russian national team was excluded from the joint matches of the selection for the 2022 World Cup.
