NASA has shown how the Ingenuity helicopter “sees” the surface of Mars

The helicopter was able to see the traces left by the rover Perseverance.

Martian Ingenuity Helicopter > made another flight on the Red Planet and was able to see the traces on its surface left by his partner, the rover Perseverance, according to Space.com. The agency also released a video taken by the helicopter during the flight.

A small helicopter made its 28th flight to Mars on April 29, covering a distance of 418 meters, spending 2.5 minutes in the air. He flew over the traces of Perseverance, which can be seen in the video, which consists of images taken by a helicopter camera.

May 3 Ingenuity could not contact Perseverance as usual. This was the first such problem that the small spacecraft encountered on the Red Planet. But it can not be called a trifle, because the whole connection between the helicopter and the Earth passes through Perseverance. In two days, the mission's specialists were able to reconnect the devices, scientists hope they were able to determine the cause of the failure.

Data from the satellite showed that the anomaly was the result of a helicopter powered by solar panels, has entered a state of reduced energy consumption, probably due to increased dust in the Martian atmosphere and lower temperatures due to the onset of winter on the Red Planet.

Teams Ingenuity and Perseverance are working to ensure that in the near future the helicopter rose into the air again. They have sent commands to lower the helicopter's heater temperatures, which could potentially allow its batteries to hold more energy.
