В России суд признал компанию Meta экстремистской организацией

The Tver District Court of Moscow (Russia) has recognized Meta as extremist, Medusa reports. It is noted that the blocking of social networks Instagram and Facebook belonging to it “should begin immediately”, although in fact the aggressor country is already blocking these social networks.

The publication also quotes FBS representative Igor Kovalevsky, who spoke in the Tver court: “Meta's activities are directed against Russia and its Armed Forces. We ask you to ban Meta and oblige us to implement this decision immediately. “

Interestingly, the prosecutor's office does not plan to block the WhatsApp messenger, which also belongs to Meta. Recognition of Meta as extremist means that it is prohibited from conducting business in the territory of the Russian Federation.

It will be recalled that after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Meta temporarily allowed Facebook and Instagram users from some countries to publish calls for violence against the Russian military, as well as calls for the deaths of Russian President Vladimir Putin and self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. Permission to publish the death toll was later revoked.

The Prosecutor General's Office demanded that Roskomnadzor block the Instagram social network in the territory of the aggressor country , as “this network distributes publications calling for violence against Russian citizens, including servicemen.” Instagram blocking in Russia started on March 14.

Facebook has been blocked in the country since March 4 for “applying censorship to the Russian media.”
