Attendance of the Russian-language version in Ukraine has decreased.
Ukrainian “Wikipedia” stated that in April, it reached a traffic level of 107 million users. This is a new record in April, according to the online encyclopedia blog.
It is noted that this result is 18% higher than last year. For the first time in April, the Ukrainian Wikipedia reached 100 million views two years ago, in the first year of the covid epidemic.

Attendance of the Russian version for the year decreased from 125 million in April 2021 to 120 million in April 2022. The share of views of the Russian-language version of the encyclopedia from the territory of Ukraine for the year decreased by 1.2% to 52.2%, the share of Ukrainian – increased by 2.3% to 37%.
In April 2021, the Russian “Wikipedia” watched in Ukraine 1.54 times more often than in Ukraine, and in April 2022 only 1.41 times more often. It is worth noting that six years ago, in April 2016, the Russian-language version of the encyclopedia was viewed 2.67 times more often than the Ukrainian one.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he wanted to create a Russian analogue of Wikipedia . Putin is not satisfied with the quality of the information contained in the encyclopedia.
Two lawsuits have been filed against Wikipedia in Russia. Roskomnadzor was the first to demand the removal of information from the articles “Battle of Kyiv (2022)”, “War crimes during the Russian invasion of Ukraine”, “Hospital shelling in Mariupol”, “Destruction of the Mariupol Theater (2022)” and “Massacre in Bucha”. The second lawsuit demanded that the company be fined for refusing to remove the article “Russia's Invasion of Ukraine (2022)” and articles about gunpowder and gunpowder.
The total amount of the fine imposed on Wikipedia was million rubles (about two million hryvnias).
