Ricky Hatton noted that the Ukrainian boxer is now thinking more about the war than about the upcoming fight.
Former world champion in two divisions Ricky Hutton shared his views on the upcoming rematch between WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO heavyweight champion Alexander Usik (19-0, 13 KOs) and Britain's Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs).
“It's hard to say who will be the biggest threat in this fight. We've seen for many years what Usik is capable of. We've seen his dominance in heavyweight and what he did to Joshua last year.
But now is a troubling time for Usik and his compatriots. Boxing is the last thing he thinks about. It will be hard for him to go out and fight Anthony Joshua.
Joshua needs to be ready for revenge, because Usik will fight for his country to get the right message. A lot is happening in the minds of both fighters, “Tribuna.com quoted Hutton as saying, citing Metro.
We will remind, on September 25 last year Usik defeated Joshua by the unanimous decision of judges and took away from the Briton all his titles.
Usik returned to Ukraine and joined the territorial defense after the start of Russia's military invasion. Later it became known that the world champion left Ukraine to prepare for revenge against the British.
