Kyivans won a victory in Austria.
On Tuesday, August 9, “Dynamo” Kyiv played the return match away against the Austrian “Sturm” in the third round of Champions League qualification.
The first game in Poland ended with a victory of “Dynamo” with a score of 1:0, so Kyiv had a minimal advantage on the road.
In the first half, “Sturm” acted sharply in attack, so Bushchan repeatedly saved Kyiv in the goal. Only once did the Austrians get their way – in the 27th minute Besedin made a mistake with a pass, after which Khoilunn responded to Prass's pass and beat the Kyiv goalkeeper.
Dynamo also created a number of dangerous moments, but almost all of the Ukrainian's shots the team lacked precision.
After the break, the situation on the field did not change fundamentally. Bushchan saved his own goal several times after the opponent's shots, and “Dynamo” generally possessed the ball more often, but in the final stage it did not look the best. Dynamo could equalize only in added time, when Garmash, after serving from a corner, hit the crossbar with his head.
As a result, the match went to extratime, where the outcome took place. In the 97th minute, Vivcharenko received the ball in the “Sturma” penalty area after a great throw from Tsygankov and fired into the goal of the Austrians – 1:1. Even before the end of the first extra half, “Sturm” remained in the minority due to the removal of Sarkaria, and “Dynamo” eventually managed to win. In the 112th minute, Buyalskyi made a pass in the opponent's penalty area to Tsygankov, and the leader of Kyiv made a well-aimed low kick and brought victory to Kyiv.
