The first satellite images of Snake Island showed the extent of the damage and proved that the border outpost on the island and its defenders came under heavy fire. Pictures taken with Maxar Technologies were published on CNN.
They show damage to buildings on the island from Russian military strikes, as well as a Russian warship anchored in the Black Sea.

In the published images you can see the damaged buildings as a result of the attack. The lighthouse, towers and antennas were affected in particular. Severe damage to red-roofed buildings on the island is also visible. Despite the fact that the Snake is covered with snow, in the picture you can see the funnels from the blows.
On February 24, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The ship of the Border Service of the FSB of the Russian Federation approached the Snake Island and demanded that the Ukrainian border guards lay down their arms.
The Russians struck with naval weapons, used combat aircraft, but could not break the fighting spirit of the Ukrainians. The occupiers completely destroyed the infrastructure of the island, which housed 13 Ukrainian border guards.
In the end, the Russian Armed Forces captured the island . But the response of the fighters to the aggressor “Russian warship, go nah * y” became a legend , and for the occupiers – a lifelong disgrace.
