Bubka said he left Ukraine on February 28 as a refugee

The official is not in the country during martial law.

President of the NOC of Ukraine Serhiy Bubka told how he left the country during the war against Russia.

“I left Ukraine on February 28 as a refugee. I went by train from Kiev to Lviv. Imagine, on three square meters of the car there were 9 children on top shelf and 9 adults, luggage, etc. Some people didn't have food there, I took some food with me and shared it with them: with children and people nearby… We drove for 12 hours, after which I had to drive to Uzhhorod to cross the border.

I felt like a refugee, I was ready, you know, to drop everything and just save the documents to cross the border, because you never know what could happen in a minute. “It's very difficult for my family. My mother is 85, she can't move, she's not alone – my older brother takes care of her. He can't leave either, and you have to understand – they are in Donetsk. That's all I can say.” – quotes Bubka Tribun a.com.

It will be recalled that on February 24, Russian President Putin made an urgent statement about a special military operation in Ukraine, launching a large-scale invasion of Ukrainian cities.
