One of the important reactions of Great Britain to the fact that Russia has launched a full-scale war against Ukraine was the suspension of scientific cooperation between the kingdom and the aggressor, said British Science Minister George Freeman .
The new restrictions are reported in detail on the website of the British Parliament :
- All payments for research projects related to Russia, which pass through the state research funds of Great Britain, have been suspended.
- The government is also conducting additional analysis of British sponsorship programs to isolate and freeze activities that benefit the Putin regime.
- Britain refuses to fund any new joint projects with Russia through the kingdom's research and innovation organizations.
- The intergovernmental dialogue on science and innovation between Britain and Russia has been suspended.
- The UK is working with partners to contribute to holding Russia accountable for its actions.
It is noted that sanctions will not be imposed on individual scientists. The restrictions apply only to the Russian science industry, which serves the Putin regime.

However, Britain is preparing a support package of 3 million pounds (almost 4 million US dollars) for Ukrainian scientists at risk. Support will be provided in the form of scholarships to scientists and their families at research institutes in the UK.
