Biden has proposed a budget of $ 26 billion for NASA

This will allow us to develop a manned mission to Mars.

Байден предложил заложить в бюджете 26 миллиардов долларов для NASA

The administration of US President Joe Biden has proposed to invest $ 26 billion in NASA's 2023 budget. This is the largest request for funding in the history of the agency, according to CNN, citing NASA chief Bill Nelson.

He added that this figure is 8% higher than the accepted levels of federal spending. “More than numbers, statistics or fact – that's what the president's budget request is,” Nelson said in a statement.

The head of NASA is confident that the increase in the budget will allow more investment in the program “Artemis”, which in 2025 should be a landing on the moon, which will involve the first woman and the first non-white man. It is expected that most of the budget increase will go to Artemis.

However, this program involves not only the creation of a long-term base for people on the moon, but also the development of the first manned mission to Mars. According to Nelson, the agency plans that by 2040 “people will walk on the Red Planet.”

In addition, money from the budget will be spent on satellites that monitor climate change and monitor the weather. It will be possible to launch the Earth Information Center, which will monitor the concentration of greenhouse gases and coordinate with other agencies that own telescopes and satellites that monitor the state of water, ice, soil and atmosphere of our planet.

Recall that recently NASA's Sun Parker spacecraft took pictures of the surface of Venus in visible light. Usually the surface of the planet is hidden by dense clouds, but now “Parker” managed to get images of it.
