Zelenskyi and Macron discussed the situation at the ZNPP, where shelling continues

Tomorrow, the IAEA will publish the conclusions of the visit to the station.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed with French President Emmanuel Macron the situation at the ZNPP. The president spoke about this in an evening video message.

According to Zelenskyi, the talks with Macron lasted more than 1.5 hours and were very meaningful.

“I spoke with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, for more than 1.5 hours, these were very meaningful negotiations. First of all, about the situation at the front, about defense support for Ukraine. I am grateful to Mr. President and all the people of France for their constant desire to protect our common European values, our common united Europe. Separately and in great detail, we focused on the situation at the ZNPP. We exchanged assessments of the results of the IAEA mission to the station,” the president noted.

Zelensky said that tomorrow the IAEA mission will present the results of its visit to the ZNPP. At the same time, the president noted that even after the visit of the mission, Russia did not stop shelling the plant, which is why the ZNPP was one step away from a radiation disaster.

“I consider the fact that Russia is doing this right now, right on the eve of the IAEA conclusions, very telling. The shelling of the territory of the ZNPP means that the terrorist state does not care what the IAEA says, it does not care what the international community decides. Russia is only interested in the situation has remained at its worst and for the longest time. This can only be corrected by increasing sanctions. Only by officially recognizing Russia as a terrorist state at all levels. Ukraine has a very clear, transparent and honest position. While we controlled the station, there was no threat of a radiation disaster. As soon as it came Russia – the worst scenario that can be imagined immediately became possible. This requires an international response – from the UN to every simple, normal state,” the president emphasized.

Earlier, “Enrgoatom” reported that the situation at Zaporizka NPP is not an emergency, despite the fact that there was a stoppage of electricity supply from power unit 6.

According to “Energoatom”, on September 5, 2022, as a result of a fire caused by shelling, the 330 kV ZaTES-Ferrosplavna transmission line was disconnected, that is, the last line connecting the ZaNPP/ZaTES node with the energy system of Ukraine. As a result, power unit No. 6 was unloaded and disconnected from the grid, which now supplies the ZNPP's own needs.
