President Volodymyr Zelenskyi of Ukraine proposes to continue the martial law in Ukraine and to continue the general mobilization of the population to protect the state. Relevant bills were submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on May 18.

According to the parliament, the President's Office submitted on behalf of the head of state a draft law №7389 on approving the decree of the President of Ukraine “On extending the martial law in Ukraine” and a draft law №7390 on approving the decree of the President of Ukraine “On extending the general mobilization”. However, the texts of the proposed laws have not yet been published on the VRU portal.

It should be noted that the previous martial law was extended for 30 days and ends on May 25.

Martial law provides for the possibility, in particular, the introduction of curfew and access regime, prohibition of mass events, inspection of property and documents, confiscation of property for defense purposes with compensation to owners, violation of the right to secrecy of correspondence and telephone conversations, etc.
