Zelensky explained Ukraine's proposal to resolve the Crimea issue in 10-15 years

Ukraine is proposing a 15-year period to discuss the issue, but this does not mean that an agreement cannot be reached tomorrow.

The Ukrainian delegation continues to insist that the status of Crimea and Sevastopol should be resolved in bilateral talks within 15 years. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with Ukrainian journalists.

According to him, this is the position Ukraine proposes to Russia to fix in a separate clause of the agreement. >

This means that during this time Ukraine and Russia will be forced to find a solution through diplomacy. And this, according to Zelensky, may happen “at least tomorrow”.

“In these 10-15 years, all parties will have to resolve the Crimean issue through diplomacy. That is, if we take a diplomatic path with you, this is the proposed format, we will not solve it now, but we want to solve it tomorrow within this period.” – said Zelensky.

The President of Ukraine noted that this position on the status of Crimea and Sevastopol, put forward for negotiations, is relevant and strong today.

< p style = "text-align: justify;">“Today, if there were such agreements on Crimea, I believe that this is an absolute victory for Ukraine,” he said. At the same time, according to him, Ukraine and Russia have completely opposite views on the future of Crimea and Donbas.

“10-15 years is a format of proposal from Ukraine. it will agree, “he said.

The president also stressed that such a position is not a compromise.

We will remind Mikhail Podoliak, adviser to the head of the President's Office, said that during the talks in Istanbul, the draft peace treaty offered the Russian side to fix a position on bilateral talks on the status of Crimea and Sevastopol, which could take 15 years.

At the same time, the Kremlin ruled out the possibility of negotiations with Ukraine on the status of the occupied Crimea.
