Zelensky discouraged key players from even stuttering about any concessions from Ukraine — Kuleb

The minister said whether Macron and Scholz had encouraged the president to “bad peace” during their visit to Kyiv.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected the desire of the representatives of other countries to start a conversation about Ukraine's possible surrender of its territories and sovereignty, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said in an interview with Lb.ua.

“Sometimes there are questions about why the president is so harsh in communicating with other leaders, something softer, more diplomatic is needed. But thanks to this communication, the president achieved one fundamental historical change in the attitude towards Ukraine: he really discouraged key players from even stuttering about any decision at the expense of Ukraine's concessions,” he said.

The head of the Foreign Ministry said, that despite everything, since 2014 there was a concept that Ukraine should give in at some points and somehow convince Putin to compromise. Instead, according to Kuleba, even before the full-scale war, Zelensky categorically rejected such logic.

“After the war, it became as tough as possible. This is, in fact, the main achievement: in key offices, they understand that the story “Ukraine must make concessions so that we can stop Putin” no longer works,” the minister added.

At the same time, he noted that vertical, this idea has not yet been rejected, that is why the Russians constantly throw experts, former politicians into the information space, who say: “We need to give in.”

“All this causes fermentation. Above, we blocked this topic, but below it is still at the level of discussions. That's why there are such questions from journalists, such comments from experts who try to return us to the logic of “what should we pay for you?”. Please don't pay! We will fight for ourselves, you will die of hunger, and then the possible hypothetical victories of Russia in Ukraine will inspire everyone like them in the world, and you will fight. Only you will fight with your neighbors, who will understand that, in principle, no one can stop them. Please, do you want to survive this hell – yes, welcome to the hell in which we have been living for four months,” said the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

Kuleba noted that despite the narratives in Ukrainian society that the presidents of France and Romania and the prime ministers of Italy and Germany during their visit to Ukraine tried to influence Zelenskyi to do bad things, it is not true.

< p>“I will say absolutely responsibly: during the visit of four leaders, two of them are leaders of the Normandy format, who spent a lot of time in the logic of “let's Ukraine do something to calm Russia down”, this logic was not voiced,” the minister said .
