"We will all have a collective sense of guilt" - French Foreign Minister

Ways to resolve the humanitarian catastrophe in the blocked Ukrainian city of Mariupol are being discussed at all international sites and are still on the agenda. At the international forum Doha Forum – 2022, the French Foreign Minister made a loud statement, according to CNN.

Jean-Yves Le Drian said the world must respond immediately and help resolve the humanitarian catastrophe in Mariupol. The minister drew a historic parallel between the besieged Ukrainian city and the siege of Aleppo in Syria, both of which were completely destroyed. As in Ukraine, there were Russian troops.

“It is very clear that Mariupol has become the second Aleppo. And I hope we will all have a collective sense of guilt if we do nothing,” said Jean-Yves Le Drian.

What is happening in Mariupol today is a classic example of a siege war, the minister said. The siege of the city was probably not the Kremlin's first plan, but the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian military changed Russia's plans.

“A military siege is a terrible way of waging war because of the massacre and destruction of civilians,” Le Drian said.

Earlier, the UN received satellite images of mass graves in Mariupol. The bodies of 200 people may be in one of these burials.

We will remind, the mayor of Mariupol Vadim Boychenko declared that Mariupol is surrounded, but remains the Ukrainian city.
