We demand additional negotiations on holding “Eurovision-2023” in Ukraine – Tkachenko

The European Language Union has stated that our country will not be able to host the competition next year.

Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko responded to the decision of the European Language Union on the transfer of the song contest “Eurovision-2023” from our country in connection with the full-scale invasion of Russia. In a statement posted on Facebook, he said that Ukraine did not agree with the format of the decision, when we were simply confronted with the fact without discussing opportunities and other options.

We honestly won “Eurovision – 2022” and fulfilled all the conditions in the specified time for the process of approval of its holding in Ukraine – provided answers and guarantees on safety standards and possible venues for the competition.

The holding of Eurovision 2023 in Ukraine is a strong signal to the whole world that it is now supporting Ukraine. We will demand to change this decision, because we believe that we will be able to fulfill all our commitments, which have been repeatedly reported to the European Language Union, “Tkachenko said.

He added that Ukraine needs additional negotiations on the holding of “Eurovision – 2023” in our country.

It will be recalled that the “Eurovision-2022” was won by the band Kalush Orchesta, which at the end of its performance called to help Ukraine and save “Azovstal”. > The band received 631 points, with 439 points given by the audience.

The victory of our country means that Ukraine has the right to hold a competition next year.
