The Chess Federation of Ukraine has refused to play with the Russians and Belarusians, said the president of the organization Viktor Kapustin.

He criticized the International Chess Federation and the European Chess Union, which did not ban Russians and Belarusians from playing matches.

“As the International Chess Federation (FIDE) has completely ignored the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the European Chess Union will have to fight against the refusal of participants to play with citizens of Russia and Belarus who are hiding under the FIDE flag.

We, Ukrainian chess players, refuse to play with Russian and Belarusian players, regardless of the flag they play. We are not allowed to play with players from aggressor countries, whose military is destroying our cities, killing civilians, women and children. FIDE and the European Chess Union, having made shameful decisions that allow representatives of the aggressor countries to play during the war, are responsible to the entire chess world, “said the Ukrainian federation.

We will remind, on February 24 the president of the Russian Federation Putin made the urgent statement on carrying out special military operation in the territory of Ukraine, having begun large-scale invasion of the Ukrainian cities.

After that, Russian sports began to plunge into complete isolation. There are almost no federations left that have not excluded Russians from their competitions.
