Ukraine will not be able to host Eurovision 2023: EBU decision

The organizers of the competition will apply to the United Kingdom, which took second place in this year's competition.

International Song Contest “Eurovision- 2023 “ will not take place in Ukraine. This is stated in an official statement of the European Language Union (EBU).

Traditionally, the right to host “Eurovision” passes to the country that won the competition last year. However, this requires compliance with several conditions, including the safety of all those who will participate in the competition and the audience.

In connection with the war waged by Ukraine in Ukraine, the EBU has assessed the extent to which our country will be able to host “Eurovision-2023”. The decision-making process was carried out with the participation of “Public”, as well as outside experts, including security.

After an objective analysis, the Eurovision Governing Council deeply regrets that, given the current circumstances, the security and operational guarantees required by the broadcaster to conduct, organize and produce the Eurovision Song Contest in accordance with the Eurovision Rules, the broadcaster cannot fulfill them. .

The EBU would like to thank the Public for their sincere cooperation and dedication to studying all scenarios in the weeks following the Kalush Orchestra's victory on May 14 in Turin, and to share their sadness and disappointment that next year's competition did not can be held in Ukraine, “the statement said.

The organizers also noted that negotiations with the British Air Force Corporation on holding “Eurovision-2023” are currently underway. The representative of Great Britain took the second place of this year's competition.

It will be recalled that the band Kalush Orchesta strong, who at the end of his speech called to help Ukraine and save Azovstal. The band received 631 points, with 439 points given by the audience.

The victory of our country means that Ukraine has the right to hold next year's competition.
