Two more members were elected to the High Council of Justice, but there is still no quorum

However, public activists have no complaints against the approved candidates.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine elected two members of the High Council of Justice – Roman Maselko and Mykola Moroz, People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported.

According to the information of the people's elected representative, Roman Maselko received 203 votes in the ranked voting, and Mykola Moroz 291 votes. In this way, two more candidates were eliminated – judge Olena Zaichko and former inspector of the VRP Vitaly Talka.

During the final vote, 258 deputies voted for the decision immediately for the two candidates.

In particular< span style="text-decoration: underline;"> faction voting looked like this:

  • Servant of the people – 181
  • European solidarity – 21
  • Motherland – 14
  • Platform for life and peace – 18
  • For the future – 2
  • Voice – 9
  • Trust – 0
  • Restoration of Ukraine – 1
  • Non-factional – 12

Thus, the Supreme Council of Justice already has six active members out of 22, while that the quorum of the High Council of Justice is at least 15 members.

Roman Maselko since 2017 has been the head of the Council of Public Control of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, a member of the Public Council of Virtue, NGO “Automaidan”. During the last eight years, he was a defender of victims during the Euromaidan.

Mykola Moroz – candidate of legal sciences, associate professor of the civil law department of the National Law University named after Yaroslav the Wise.

Let us remind you that on February 22, after the evaluation by the Ethics Council, 10 out of 15 active members of the VRP prematurely submitted their credentials for of their own free will. As a result, the quorum of the GRP was lost, and the council ceased to exercise its powers.
