Ukrainian football player Anatoliy Tymoschuk was deprived of the title of honorary citizen of Lutsk. This decision was made by the local city council.
“At a time when Ukraine is suffering from Russia's military aggression, Anatoly Timoshchuk has not made any public statements about it and has not stopped his cooperation with the football club of the aggressor country. We will remind, 43-year-old Anatoly Timoshchuk is the record holder of the national team of Ukraine – on his account 144 matches and 4 goals. The native of Lutsk is known for his performances for Volyn, Shakhtar, Zenit and Bayern. Since 2017, he has been working in the structure of St. Petersburg's “Zenith”.
After the start of the war, the ex-footballer did not leave the St. Petersburg club and did not support Ukraine in the fight against the occupier.
