There will be enough nuclear fuel in Ukraine for two years – even without replenishment

Energy exports to Europe will only grow.

Energoatom plans to increase exports electricity to Eastern and Central Europe, with nuclear fuel reserves for the next two years, even if they are not replenished at all. This was stated by the head of the state company Energoatom Petro Kotin in an interview with Forbes.

“Technical capabilities allow to export up to 700 MW. We want to add new lines so that at least 2,000 MW can be exported, “Kotin said.

Nuclear energy is the cheapest in Ukraine, so Energoatom has the best position as an exporter.

Kotin believes that the purchase of electricity in Ukraine will be interesting for the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

“For example, buying electricity from us, Lithuania will be able to refuse to import it from Russia,” he said./p>

Kotin assured that Ukraine has a two-year supply of nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants. During this time, the country will not have a shortage of this fuel, even in the absence of replenishment.
