There were no specific agreements with the UN on the evacuation of people from Azovstal – Peskov

Putin, instead, called on Guterres and ICRC officials to familiarize themselves with the conditions of Ukrainian prisoners.

Spokesman for Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that Russia did not give final consent to evacuate Ukrainians from the Azovstal plant in Mariupol with the participation of the UN and representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross. His words are quoted by “Interfax”.

“This topic (joint participation in the organization of the evacuation – ed.) was voiced by Mr. Guterres, and it will be further worked out. There were no specific agreements in this area,” – said Peskov.

He also noted that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin had instead invited UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and ICRC representatives to visit Ukrainian prisoners of war to learn about their living conditions.
