The war in numbers: how big and small businesses have suffered

Some companies have not resumed operations.

The war had a negative impact on the work of the real sector of Ukraine's economy . The lion's share of enterprises is not working, others have reduced wages. About this for ZN.UA writes Yulia Samaeva , editor of the economics department of ZN.UA in the text – “Let's let the Hetmans just go” .

Big Business

According to the author, 28% of companies work in big business without changes, another 68% work, but partially and with restrictions (either online or by closing some offices or points of sale). Only 54% of companies pay their salaries in full, the rest either pay only half, send employees on unpaid leave or fire them altogether.

“The total loss of companies (property and assets) that participated in the EBA survey amounted to more than 518 million dollars. At the same time, 48% of large companies help the army with money, others – with products, medicines, means of protection or defense. Only 5% of working big businesses admit that they have already exhausted their resources to help, “the author notes.

Medium and small business

Medium and small business is much worse: only one in five works normally, with:

  • 22% do not pay salaries at all;
  • 15% send people on unpaid leave;
  • 9% – fired.

The amount of damage inflicted on SMEs since the beginning of the war is about $ 2 million, with only 6% of entrepreneurs losing nothing since February 24. And if at the beginning of the war more than 60% of small companies supported volunteers and defenders of the country, now 18% of them admit that they simply do not have the money.
