The US Congress will consider a draft resolution recognizing the war waged by Russia in Ukraine as genocide

The resolution will be declarative in nature, but will be an important signal to the whole world.

A draft resolution on < strong> recognition of the war in Ukraine, unleashed by Russia, genocide , Foreign Policy reports.

The text of the document states that the atrocities of Russian troops in Ukraine, including chaotic attacks on civilians, bombing maternity hospitals and medical facilities, deportation to Russia and the occupied territories, meet the criteria of genocide set out in the relevant UN Convention.

< The resolution of the US Congress is not legally binding. However, this is a signal of condemnation of the actions of the aggressor country and another step in support of Ukraine.

It will be recalled that in May the Lithuanian Seimas recognized Russia as a terrorist state and a country committing genocide against the Ukrainian people , reports Delfi. The resolution was supported by 128 votes.
