The United States will accept 100,000 Ukrainian refugees and donate $ 1 billion to help European countries cope with the influx of migrants from Ukraine fleeing the Russian invasion , according to The New York Times , citing a source familiar with the White House decision.

It is unclear exactly how the United States will receive refugees from Ukraine. Some of them may be accepted as part of the official US refugee reception program. Others may be issued visas or humanitarian protection, a form of entry often provided to people fleeing violence or war. New programs are also being developed with a focus on the reception of Ukrainians whose family members are in the United States.
