The sports arbitration court explained why Russia's appeal against the 2022 World Cup was rejected

The Russians did not win the international court again.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected the appeal of the Russian Of the Football Union to postpone the clashes in the selection for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, according to the press service of the court.

This decision was made due to the refusal of the national teams of Poland, the Czech Republic and Sweden to play “If the Russian national team were allowed to participate in head-to-head matches, their opponents would suffer technical defeats, as the matches would not take place. The honesty of FIFA tournaments in this case would be seriously undermined,” – said in a statement. It will be recalled that on February 24, Russian President Putin made an urgent statement about conducting a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine, launching a large-scale invasion of Ukrainian cities.

UEFA then expelled Russian clubs from European Cups, and the Russian national team was deprived of the right to play in the clashes of qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
