The occupiers stole 200,000 tons of new crop grain from the farmers of Donetsk region

Three Panamax dry cargo ships would fit all the stolen grain.

Russia was engaged in stealing Ukrainian grain harvest. According to the HarvEast company, the invaders stole up to 200,000 tons of crops from its farms in the eastern occupied areas.

HarvEast, which was one of the ten largest Ukrainian landowners before the war, said that 50,000 tons of crops were taken from storage facilities. by Russian trucks, which then left for Russia, including from the villages of Mangush and Mykilske near Mariupol. It estimates that another 150,000 tons were harvested from fields it occupies, which it no longer controls, although it cannot confirm the exact figures.

The entire amount of stolen grain would fill about three Panamax bulk carriers.< /p>

“The biggest loss is this year's harvest,” HarvEast CEO Dmytro Skornyakov said in an interview. “In June, they started harvesting our grain, and we don't have access to this land,” reports Bloomberg.

According to analysts of the Kyiv School of Economics, abnormally high volumes of food supplies from the Russian-occupied Crimea peninsula indicate that from there seized Ukrainian grain is exported. According to Skornyakov, the HarvEast land is quite close to Russia, so its grain will most likely be delivered there by trucks.

According to Terrascope satellite data, some HarvEast fields near Ksenivka in the occupied Donetsk region were harvested in June. Its Normalized Vegetation Difference Index uses satellite images to calculate the amount of green space within an area.

The Russian invasion in February led to a blockade of the country's ports, limiting exports and sending world food prices soaring. Supply has recently resumed after agreed export corridor, but the volumes are only part of the normal level.

On Thursday, the special representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa appealed to the countries of the League of Arab States to arrest suspicious shipments of its grain strong>. He said that “Russia's impunity encourages them to continue stealing grain from the occupied south of Ukraine.”
