The NBU said what should be the rate for electronic payments

The limits of the open currency position for banks have been reduced and a number of currency restrictions have been clarified.

The National Bank has determined the procedure for determining the exchange rate by issuing banks hryvnias to foreign currencies during transactions using electronic means of payment. This is stated in the press release of the institution.

Yes, the hryvnia exchange rate against foreign currency should not exceed by more than 10% the official NBU exchange rate (effective on the day of the bank's transaction) debit from the client's account in UAH, if the interbank transfer of such a client's transaction is made in foreign currency.

Also, the exchange rate of hryvnia to foreign currency should be equal to or higher than the official NBU rate:

  • in case of debiting funds in foreign currency from the client's account, if the interbank transfer for such a client's transaction is made in UAH;
  • in case of crediting funds in national currency to the client's account, if the interbank transfer for such transaction carried out in foreign currency.

Restrictions came into force on April 30, 2022.
