The Ministry of Justice filed the first lawsuit to confiscate the property of a Russian oligarch

The verdict can be handed down as early as September.

Vladimir Yevtushenkov is one of the richest people in Russia. According to official data, his fortune as of 2021 was $3.4 billion. One of its main capitals is Sistema JSC. The company, in turn, is the owner of the concern “RTI Systems”, which is one of the largest defense companies in the world. The enterprises of the concern produce control and communication systems, radio equipment, such as the fixed Voronezh radar stations, which are designed to detect and track ballistic and cruise missiles and other aerodynamic objects.

According to recent journalistic investigations, Yevtushenkov owns real estate in Europe: three villas on Lazurny coast, recorded on the company, are directly related to his family and two houses in the center of London.

As the lawyers of “IZI” note, the property confiscation procedure takes place after imposing sanctions on a specific person. This also applies to assets that such a person can directly or indirectly dispose of. That is, those assets that are not registered in her name, but of which she is the real owner.

The decision on confiscation must be made by VAKS at the request of the Ministry of Justice. At the same time assets can be confiscated only during the period of martial law and only in respect of persons to whom the NSDC has already applied the blocking of assets.

According to the analytical center, the lawsuit together with the appendices is more than 500 pages, and VAKS has only 10 days to consider such a lawsuit.

At the same time, after the decision of VAKS, Yevtushenkov will have five days for his appeal in the Appellate Chamber of the Anti-Corruption Court. With all the procedural points, the first court decision on the confiscation of the Russian oligarch's assets may be as early as September.
