The June EU summit will decide on the next stages on Ukraine's path to the European Union – Zhovkva

The Deputy Chairman of the OPU is convinced that Ukraine can join the EU in the next few years.

During the EU summit on June 25-26, decisions will be made on the next steps on the path of Ukraine's accession to the EU . This was stated by Deputy Head of the President's Office Igor Zhovkva in an interview with European Truth.

“The benchmarks are the next regular EU summit, ie the European Council meeting, where decisions will be made on the next steps. It's June 25-26, if I'm not mistaken. We definitely have to come to this summit with the relevant decision of the European Council, and then – the beginning of accession talks, and there we will also try to do them faster, “- said Zhovkva.

According to him, Ukraine may join the European Union in the next few years. At the same time, Zhovkva noted that Ukraine had not received any signals from Hungary banning our country's accession to the European Union.

“I would not say that Hungary is now going to block something on the European track for Ukraine. At least we don't see any such signs, and we hope they don't. NATO had a completely different story. But we hope that the EU will have enough conscience and wisdom not to restrain this movement in Ukraine, “Zhovkva said.
