The head of the German Foreign Ministry called on the UN General Assembly to condemn the Russian annexation of the territories of Ukraine

No one has the right to question the sovereignty of any state, especially through violence.

UN General Assembly should make it clear to Russia that the regions annexed by it still belong to Ukraine, the head of the German Foreign Ministry Annalena Berbock said.

According to her, the sovereignty of the country cannot be questioned.

In the planned UN vote on illegal annexation, every single vote is important, she said on Friday, October 7, in Berlin at a joint press conference with her Pakistani counterpart Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, DW reports.

According to Burbok, the UN resolution should make it clear to Russia that the regions annexed by it still belong to Ukraine. This document should also emphasize that no one has the right to question the sovereignty of any state, especially through violence, she emphasized.

Many countries around the world consider Russia's decision to “join” four Ukrainian regions to be a violation of international law. At the same time, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Zardari left open the question of how his country will vote at the General Assembly. He said that this issue still needs to be agreed upon by the partners from the ruling coalition in Pakistan.

The extraordinary meeting of the UN General Assembly is being held at the initiative of Ukraine and Albania. A week ago, the UN Security Council failed to pass a resolution condemning the Russian annexation of four Ukrainian regions due to the Russian veto. The Russian Federation was the only one of the 15 members of the Security Council to vote against this document. Ten members of the Council supported the resolution, four more – China, India, Brazil and Gabon – abstained.
