The ex-commander of the Special Operations Forces Galagan received a new position

The officer was transferred to the Security Service of Ukraine.

Former head of Special Operations Forces Hryhoriy Galagan has been transferred to the Security Service of Ukraine, announced the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

In the evening of July 25, a decree by which Galagan was dismissed from his post appeared on the president's website. and Viktor Horenko was appointed in his place.

“I made important personnel decisions today. Combat General Viktor Khorenko has been appointed as the new commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And General Hryhoriy Galagan is being transferred to another direction and, in order to update the Security Service of Ukraine, he has been appointed the first deputy head of the Special Operations Center “A” of the SBU,” he said.

Zelensky also confirmed the information that the head of the Main Intelligence Department of the IOM Kyrilo Budanov will head the Intelligence Committee under the President of Ukraine instead of the fired Ruslan Demchenko.

Gryhoriy Galagan – reserve major general. From 2002 to 2019, he held the position of first deputy head of the Special Operations Center “A” of the Security Service of Ukraine, and in 1995-2002 he served in the ranks of the Armed Forces.

Galagan has the status of a participant in hostilities, in 2015 he was wounded while performing a task in the ATO zone. He was awarded the orders “For Courage” III degree and “Bohdan Khmelnytskyi” III degree.

Zelensky dismissed Ruslan Demchenko from the position of first deputy secretary of the National Security Council and removed him from the leadership of the intelligence committee under the president. As ZN.UA already wrote, it was to Demchenko during the last two years that all intelligence services of Ukraine – border guards, foreign intelligence and other special structures – were supposed to report and have been reporting.

Experienced diplomat Ruslan Demchenko managed to work with almost all the presidents of Ukraine. He was an ideologue of the “Kharkiv Agreements”, collaborated in the preparation of the “first Minsk” documents, despite the lustration, was an adviser to President Zelenskyi.

Demchenko took part in the meeting where the fate of the special operation on the detention of mercenaries of the “Wagner” PMC in Belarus. As a result, the special operation was foiled.
