MEPs call for a large-scale increase in military aid to Ukraine. This is stated in the resolution adopted on Thursday, supported by the overwhelming majority of votes.
In the resolution, the deputies also emphasize that the results of fictitious referendums conducted under the muzzles of machine guns, carried out for the annexation of Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia regions cannot be considered valid, so the aggressor country must be subjected to tougher sanctions pressure.
“Welcoming the courage of the Ukrainian people who are defending their country and European values”, MEPs call on EU member states and other countries that support Ukraine to significantly increase their military aid, especially in areas where Ukrainian government.
“Faltering” member states must provide their fair share of the necessary military assistance that will help end the war,” the document says.
MEPs also emphasized that Russia's threats to use nuclear weapons are irresponsible and dangerous, but will not deter the European Union from further helping Ukraine in self-defense.
Given the explosions on the Nord Stream pipelines, the European Parliament agreed on the need to strengthen the protection of European critical infrastructure.
“The explosions show how dangerous the policy of increasing dependence on Russian fossil fuels has been and that energy weapons have been brought to a new level,” the resolution reads, along with a call to prioritize the protection of European critical infrastructure and increase its resilience against external attacks.

In addition, MEPs call for the creation of a special international tribunal, “where Putin and all those Russian civil and military officials and their proxies, those responsible for the organization, initiation and conduct of the war in Ukraine will be punished”.
