The EU has allowed Ukraine to export pork and beef through its ports

The European Union has agreed on a raw material checkpoint and “designated” Romanian ports for export.

European Commission, EU Member States and Ukraine agreed on the procedure for exporting Ukrainian pork and beef through the territory and ports of the European Union. This should be an important step in supporting the Ukrainian economy amid a critical collapse in Ukrainian exports . The Romanian checkpoint Isachea-Orlivka was chosen as a transit point. Due to Russia's war against Ukraine, our state does not have access to traditional ways of exporting its products. Previously, such goods were sent through Ukrainian ports. The new conditions forced the authorities to look for new options for the import and transit of Ukrainian goods through the EU.

Yes, the parties agreed to transit pork and beef, as well as meat products and composite products from these types of meat. treated in accordance with treatment categories B-F (in accordance with point 1 of Annex XXVI to Regulation (EU) № 2020/429).

“As Ukraine is not authorized to export these types of goods to the EU in terms of the country's animal health audit, as an exception to martial law and the blockade of Ukrainian ports, transit is allowed only through Romanian ports,” the Ministry of Agrarian Policy said. p>

The goods must meet the following requirements:

  • be accompanied by an international veterinary certificate required by the importing country (destination country);
  • transported in closed containers from facilities of origin to the importing country (destination country);
  • the market operator must notify the relevant border inspection post in advance of the import of such goods by completing the first Part 1 of the Common Health Document for Import (CHED-P) through the EU information system – TRACES NT;
  • import and export from the territory EU through approved border checkpoints.

During martial law, temporary checkpoints are added to the main ones (for Poland – Scheheni, for Romania – Ordovka and Vadul Siret).
