The EU and 42 countries put forward Russia's demands regarding the Zaporizhzhia NPP

The participants of the statement emphasize that the world is not misled by the disinformation behavior of the Russian Federation.

The EU and 42 countries called on Russia to immediately withdraw its troops from the Zaporizhia NPP and the entire territory of Ukraine. The corresponding joint statement was published on Sunday on the website of the EU delegation to international organizations in Vienna. At the same time, the statement itself is dated August 12. p>

The statement was joined by the European Union, as well as individual countries – Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan , Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Montenegro, Netherlands, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Moldova, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America.

“We call on the Russian Federation to immediately withdraw its military forces and all other unauthorized personnel from the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, its immediate surroundings and all of Ukraine, so that the operator and the Ukrainian authorities can resume their sovereign duties within the internationally recognized borders of Ukraine, and legitimate operational personnel could perform their duties without external interference, threats and unacceptably difficult working conditions,” the statement reads.

It is emphasized that the placement of Russian military and weapons at the nuclear facility “is unacceptable and violates the principles of security and guarantees that all IAEA members have undertaken to respect”.

Also, the participants of the statement expressed their support for the efforts of the IAEA to contribute to the solution of the problem related to the occupation of the ZNPP, “while respecting the full sovereignty of Ukraine over its territory and infrastructure”.

“We strongly condemn Russia's use of disinformation in its attempts to justify its illegal actions in Ukraine”, – the document states.

“The international community will hold Russia accountable for its aggression, and Russia must bear the full punishment for its illegal actions in Ukraine,” it is also stated in statement

Zaporizka NPP was occupied by Russia since March 4.

The invaders placed military equipment and ammunition on the territory of the station, and also mined part of the station's facilities.

For two weeks, the Russians have been regularly shelling the territory of the ZNPP.
