The Emmy Award refused to consider projects from Russia due to the war in Ukraine

The Emmy International Television Award, which is presented to the best television programs created and broadcast outside the United States, has refused to consider projects from Russia, Interfax reports. This is due to the war unleashed in Ukraine by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Thus, programs created by Russian companies or together with them, as well as those created for Russian channels or streaming platforms were excluded from the competition program.

“In support of Ukraine, the executive committee of the International Academy has decided to exclude all programs from Russia from the International Emmy Awards this year,” – said in a statement the organizers of the award.

The organization also clarified that contacts with Russian filmmakers and companies had been suspended earlier.
