On the eve of Purim, the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Asman called on the Jews of Ukraine and the world to pray for the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the victory of Ukraine in the war.

“Ukraine is at war today. A brutal and insidious aggressor from Russia is bombing and shooting Ukrainian cities. Hundreds of women, children and the elderly are dying. Today I appeal to you, Jews and Ukrainians, let's fast at Esther this Wednesday from sunrise and before sunset, we will neither eat nor drink, but dedicate the day to prayers, turn to the Almighty with all our hearts to help, give strength to President Vladimir Zelensky to endure this difficult time, “Asman said in a video message.

According to the rabbi, these days Zelensky defends not only the freedom of Ukraine, but “is a symbol and stronghold of the whole free world.”

“So that there is no more war, so that there is peace in the whole world, so that we are happy and love each other,” he concluded.

On the eve of the Metropolitan of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Epiphanius blessed the Ukrainian people to fight the enemy and noted that killing the enemy to protect the homeland is not a sin.
