The Cabinet of Ministers refused to allocate money for the salaries of the new prosecutors of the SAP — Shabunin

The fate of the next EU macro-financial tranche depends on this decision.

The government refused to increase funding for the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, which violated the promise to the European Union, on which the allocation of the next tranche of macro-financial assistance depends, said the head of the Anti-Corruption Center Vitaliy Shabunin.

We are talking about an amendment to the budget to increase the financing of the SAP. This money was supposed to cover the financing of the salaries of eight new prosecutors, whose selection was completed recently.

“Knowing all this, yesterday the government reported to the EU about the success of the competition for the positions of SAP prosecutors. And already today – he actually refused to provide these prosecutors with salaries,” Shabunin emphasized.

The official reason for the refusal was the lack of proposals from the Prosecutor General's Office, which in fact did not create legal obstacles to increasing funding.

< p>“But there is also good news. The budget committee can still correct this by revising the draft budget before tomorrow's vote in the Council,” added Shabunin.
