Tesla showed a prototype of Optimus humanoid robot

Elon Musk plans to release millions of such robots.

According to the CEO of the company, Elon Musk, the manufacturer of electric cars will be able to produce millions of such robots, and their cost will be about 20 thousand dollars, reports Reuters.

Musk also noted that he hopes that the company will start accepting orders for the production of devices within three to five years. He also talked about the efforts to create the robot, which have been made for 10 years.

In the future, Tesla will also test its humanoids in its own factories, considering them as a replacement for human workers.

At a presentation held in San Francisco, a robot walked across the stage and waved to the audience. In addition, Tesla showed a clip in which the humanoid performs small operations: watering flowers, carrying boxes, and also lifting metal rods at the company's plant in California.

Musk said that the presentation of the robot is part of the journey to turn Tesla into a leader in the field of artificial intelligence, and not just “a company that produces cool cars”.

Musk talked about plans to create a humanoid robot last year. Then he announced that he would work under the control of the Dojo computer and neural networks capable of navigating in space and recognizing the world. The height of the robot will be 172 centimeters, and the weight will be 57 kilograms. Instead of a face, the humanoid will have a screen with useful information.
