Shmyhal warned Western partners that Ukrainians may soon be without pensions and salaries

Ukraine has exhausted all its own possibilities.

It is important for Ukraine to receive the money promised by the European Union as soon as possible, so that Ukrainians are not left without pensions and wages. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

According to him, Ukraine receives enormous support from its partners. However3 billion euros from the promised European package of 9 billion have been blocked, in particular, because Berlin proposes to provide these funds in the form of grants, not loans.

“The most important thing for us is that they arrive as soon as possible. We need it in order for our financial system to survive. Whether it will be a loan or a grant is less important. We have already exhausted all the possibilities of savings,” he noted. prime minister.

He also emphasized that today the defense budget of Ukraine accounts for 60% of state expenditures, therefore Western financial aid goes to social needs. Thus, any delay can have dire consequences.

“If we talk about an extremely negative scenario, then we would no longer be able to pay neither salaries nor pensions. Therefore, the financial stability of Ukraine is as important as military security or the supply of ammunition,” he added.

According to the head of the Ukrainian government, Ukraine receives the most assistance for social payments from the USA, followed by the European Union, and Germany is at the forefront of financial assistance.
