German Chancellor Olaf Scholz told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that Germany is ready to act as a guarantor of security for Ukraine. This was reported by Reuters, citing a statement by spokesman Steffen Hebestraight at a regular press conference on Wednesday.

It is noted that in a telephone conversation with Zelensky, Scholz signaled “general readiness.”

At the same time, Habestraith said on his behalf that he did not want to speculate on whether the role of guarantor of security would also include a military component.

Hebestraith did not say what position Scholz has on this issue.

We will remind, Ukraine offered the agreement on security guarantees. If Russia and the guarantor countries agree on this agreement, it could be a diplomatic end to the war.

The document will prescribe security guarantees for Ukraine, which will be identical in content and form to Article 5 of NATO. That is, if Ukraine is the object of any aggression, military attack or military operation, the guarantor countries must gather consultations within three days to resolve the conflict. If these consultations do not lead to a diplomatic end to the conflict, the guarantor countries must do everything possible to restore Ukraine's security. We are talking about the supply of weapons, the closure of the sky, etc.

Earlier , the United States declared its readiness to act as one of the guarantors of Ukraine's security.

Italy has agreed to become one of the guarantors of Ukraine's security.

At the same time, British Deputy Prime Minister Dominique Raab said that London would consider Ukraine's request to become a guarantor of security. However, he ruled out taking security guarantees that NATO countries have.
