Russia's war in Ukraine has forced many countries to give up Russian oil . Therefore, in order to sell its raw materials, Russia is taking its black gold market into the shadows. After all, up to 1.5 million barrels of oil are delivered somewhere every day, CNN reports.

Tankers with Russian crude oil and petroleum products began to disappear from radars on a regular basis. And such shadow activity has grown by 600%. Everyone sees one reason – an attempt to circumvent the sanctions.

“We are seeing a surge in the number of cases where Russian tankers deliberately turn off transponders to circumvent sanctions. The Russian fleet is starting to hide its location and its exports, ”said Amy Daniel, Windward CEO.

In particular, in one week since March 12, 33 cases of shadow activity of tankers with Russian oil and oil products have been recorded. It is noted that this is 236% higher than the average for the week over the previous 12 months.

Also, according to research firm Rystad Energy, between 1.2 and 1.5 million barrels of Russian oil a day have disappeared since the beginning of the war. Analysts believe that it is secretly bought by Chinese and Indian refineries.

Earlier it was reported that Nigeria is ready to replace Russian oil on the market within its quota under the OPEC + deal, if such a request arises. As Nigeria is not interested in rising prices for “black gold”, it is doing everything possible to maintain stability in the world oil market.
