Russia continues to put pressure on the negotiation process – Podoliak

The adviser to the head of the president's office noted that the negotiations are extremely difficult.

Adviser to the Head of the President's Office Mykhailo Podoliak stated that Russia adheres to its traditional tactics of pressure on the negotiation process between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations to end the war, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

“Negotiations are extremely difficult. Online in working subgroups. But they are happening. It is clear that the emotional background in the negotiation process today is difficult. It is clear that the Ukrainian delegation works exclusively within pro-Ukrainian and transparent borders,” Podoliak said.

He also stressed: “The Russian side adheres to its traditional tactic of publicly pressuring the negotiation process, in particular through certain public statements.”

It will be recalled that following the March 29 talks, Oleksandr Chaly, head of the legal group at the Ukraine-Russia talks, said that security guarantees should be analogous to Article 5 of NATO. This means that an attack on our state will be considered an attack on all signatories. Chaly also noted that if they agree, our side agrees to permanent neutrality, non-alignment and non-nuclear. But nothing should contradict Ukraine's right to join the EU.

The head of the Ukrainian delegations David Arahamiya told who Ukraine wants to see as signatories of security guarantees. He also said that the document will not apply to the temporarily occupied territories of Donbass and Crimea, as there are still unresolved issues regarding them.

Previously The United States has stated its readiness to be one of Ukraine's guarantors of security. The same was then stated in Germany and Italy . At the same time, British Deputy Prime Minister Dominique Raab said that London would consider Ukraine's request , but he ruled out accepting the guarantees that NATO countries have.
