Russia announced that a Ukrainian program for the military had been hacked, but the information turned out to be fake

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine denied the message of the propagandists.

Russian propaganda resources on Tuesday, November 1, began to spread information about the alleged hacking of the Ukrainian situational awareness program Delta, which is used by our defenders on the battlefield. However, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine denied these reports and assured that they are just another informational and psychological operation of the occupiers.

There they explained that the Russian Federation had just now managed to spread this fake, because recently our experts successfully presented an updated version of the system at the closed NATO Tide Sprint conference of experts and developers.

“Therefore, shortly after that, the enemy began to attack the system with the aim of discrediting it and spread information about the alleged hacking and access to its data through a network of propaganda resources,” the Ministry of Defense noted.

The department emphasized that the program continues to work stably, and the data in it remains securely protected. Specialists did not detect unauthorized intrusions, so the ministry called on the Ukrainian media not to spread disinformation about the aggressor.

“The Ministry of Defense has the best IT developers and cyber security specialists working on the protection of the system, who monitor enemy activity in real time,” the message says.

As noted, the Ministry of Defense understands that similar Delta systems and tools are a strategic target for the Russians, like the critical infrastructure of Ukraine. However, he recognizes the mentioned hostile IPSO as a “failure”.

A little earlier, journalist Yuriy Butusov also refuted another fake of the Russian Federation, noting that the invaders had already tried to break this system, but were defeated again. He was the first to mention the connection between the launch of IPSO and Delta's presentation at the event of the North Atlantic Alliance, where the program “received the highest evaluation from experts who assessed the uniqueness of the system and its security and efficiency”.

“The Russians are conducting this attack to discredit our successful technology, trying to limit user confidence and emphasize that the primitive Russian paper maps on which the Russians command their troops are supposed to protect data. And in fact, it is an intellectual and technological limitation. Ukraine continues to strengthen its advantages in information technology over the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation,” Butusov said.

The journalist noted that the story of the spread of such fakes by the aggressor demonstrates the significant advantage of our state over the enemy in information technologies, as well as the importance of soldiers and civil servants observing information security in times of war. “Delta structures all information about the enemy, and is a unique weapon of Ukraine, the Russians do not have such information systems,” he emphasized.

Butusov said that the Russian intelligence services are constantly trying to gain access to phones and computers. Defense Forces and even managed to do it twice in August.

“The technology was primitive, phishing through mailboxes and social networks, that is, sending links, the transition to which was implanted by a virus program that exposed the user's passwords. Many users are connected to Delta, all of them are adults with titles and positions, but among them there were two who opened a virus program and planted a Russian virus on their gadget. One user is from a subdivision in the Kryvyi Rih region, the other is from the Kharkiv region. This allowed the Russians to enter the program,” the journalist wrote.

At the same time, he explained that the occupiers failed to hack Delta, because the system involves the threat of the enemy obtaining passwords to it. Each user has only a limited level of access and a separate list of data, so the Russians were able to see only a small amount of information about their own troops. which displayed the location of Russian troops in southern Ukraine, after which access was closed. The enemy got an understanding of what Delta is, but the data received has already lost its relevance. Both users who handed over their passwords were discovered, counter-intelligence is working with them,” Butusov shared.

According to him, proof of Delta's maximum security is also the successful offensive operations of our defenders this fall, during which the program was used frequently and no data leaks occurred. In addition, Ukraine continues to improve the system.

“Delta is expanding its work, during the war there have already been more than 40 releases of the system, and it is worth thanking the Air Intelligence team, who created Delta and supported it for several years with their own enthusiasm and with volunteer funds, and that powerful team that makes Delta so perfect now. Without a doubt, this system is one of the best in the world, as the best Ukrainian programmers modernize it with the best modern technologies. The protection of the Delta has become even stronger,” concluded Yuriy Butusov.
